Scriptory Book
    Introduction    
Flight from Kirtland   Joseph and Sidney flee Kirtland on horseback on the night of January 12, 1838. Their families meet them later en route to Far West, where they arrive March 13, 1838.   PWJS, 93. Original, Scriptory Book 16.
    On April 6 the first conference specifically commemorating the anniversary of the founding of the church is held, and George W. Robinson is named Church Recorder and clerk for the First Presidency.    ¶ Minutes of April 6, 1838
    On April 12 he begins writing:

    Kept by Geo. W. Robinson Recorder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints  
Scope   The Scriptory Book contains letters, revelations, George W. Robinson's observations of Joseph's activities to September 10, 1838, and a copy of Joseph's December 16, 1838 letter from Liberty Jail. Later the book was turned over and used to record patriarchal blessings (197 pages).   Dean Jessee's transcript is in Papers 2:211–300.
    Contents    
    Pages 2–14 contain a roster of church members in Missouri, most in Caldwell county.    
Motto of the Church   Pages 15–83 contain entries that Dean Jessee calls the 1838 Missouri Journal.   Papers 2:211–212.
    The first of these entries, written in the first preson, describes Joseph's arrival in Far West in March 13 and the Motto of the Church.   Papers 2:212–214.
    Then follows:    
D&C 113   D&C 113 in the Question/Answer format concerning the stem of Jessee.   Papers 2:214–215.
Sept. 4, 1837 letter to John Corrill   Copy of Joseph's September 4, 1837 letter to John Corrill with minutes of the important September 3 conference.   Papers 2:216–219.

Oliver in First Presidency   An undated copy of a letter to "Dear Brotheren" stating that Oliver:   Papers 2:219–220.
Oliver repent   has been in transgression, but as he is now chosen as one of the Presidents or Councilors I trust that he will yet humble himself & magnify his calling but if he should not, the Church will soon be under the necessaty of raising their hands against him.    
David, others repent   David Whitmer, Leonard Rich, and others have also been in transgression, and if they don't "make sattisfaction to the Church" they will not be able to "retain their standing."    
Sept. 4, 1837 revelation   Revelation that unless John Whitmer and W. W. Phelps repent, they "shall be removed out of their places."   Papers 2:220.
