Doctrine and Covenants 41
February 4, 1831, Kirtland, Ohio.
Lord blesses and curses. Church to gather and agree on the word of the Lord §. Pray to receive laws to govern church. Lord comes quickly. Whoever keeps the law is the Lord's disciple; others to be cast out §. Don't cast pearls before swine. Build a house for Joseph §. Sidney can live wherever he likes §, as he keeps the commandments. Edward Partridge, "in whom there is no guile" §, is called to be bishop.

I bless and I curse

Receive divine law by prayer 3 by the prayer of your faith ye shall receive my law that ye may know to govern my church and have all things right before me and by the prayer of your faith ye shall receive my law, that ye may know how to govern my church, and have all things right before me. and by the prayer of your faith ye shall receive my law, that ye may know how to govern my church, and have all things right before me.

Pearls before swine 6 for it is not meet that the things which belong to the children of the kingdom Should be given to them that are not worthy or to dogs or the pirls to be cast before swine. Build house for Joseph 7 and again it is meet that my servant Joseph Should have a house built in which to live and translate [9] And again, it is meet that my servant Joseph should have a house built, in which to live and translate. "The first time Joseph and family came to Kirtland they lived with Isaac Morley, Lucy's father. Later "Father Morley" built a small house for them on his farm. The twins were born here." "Lucy Diantha Morley Allen," Young Woman's Journal 17 (1906): 537.

¶ Isaac Morley built a one-room house on his land.
Sidney to take care of himself 8 And again it is meet that my servant Sidney should live as seemeth him Good [10] And again, it is meet that my servant Sidney should live as seemeth him good. And again, it is meet that my servant Sidney Rigdon should live as seemeth him good, inasmuch as he keepeth my commandments.   John Whitmer version omits Rigdon.
Edward to work full time as bishop 9 And again I have called my servant Edward and give a commandment that he Should be appointed by the voice of the church and ordained a Bishop unto the church to leave his merchandise and to spend all his time in the Labours of the church [11] And again, I have called my servant Edward, and give a commandment, that he should be appointed by the voice of the church, and ordained a bishop unto the church, to leave his merchandise and to spend all his time in the labors of the church; And again, I have called my servant Edward Partridge, and give a commandment, that he should be appointed by the voice of the church, and ordained a bishop unto the church, to leave his merchandise and to spend all his time in the labors of the church;   Edward Partridge

Joseph also refers to Newel K. Whitney, the second bishop, as "without guile." ¶ Joseph to W. W. Phelps, July 31, 1832.
