Spends "the night with Mr. Kelsey, whose wife lay sick of a disease with which she had been afflicted five or six years. She covenanted to obey the gospel if the Lord would heal her. I prayed for and laid my hands upon her in the name of Jesus, and she began to recover, and a few days after was baptized." Returns to St. Johnsbury the next day. 	1803	William Miller	Born Feb. 15, 1782 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, raised in Low Hampton, New York, the founder of the "Millerites," marries and moves to Poultney, where he rejects his Baptist heritage and becomes a Diest. Elected constable, deputy sheriff, justice of the peace. 1815 returns to Low Hampton, studies Bible, and by 1818 develops theory that Jesus Christ would return in late 1843 or early 1844. Begins lecturing Aug. 1831. Publishes conclusions in Vermont Telegraph (16 installments beginning in May 1832), and pamphlet, Evidences from Scripture and History of the Second Coming of Christ, about the year 1843; and of his Person Reign of One Thousand Years.
