Joseph Smth's Callings
March 29, 1830  
No other gift 2 … and he has a gift to translate the book, and I have commanded him that he shall pretend to no other gift until my purpose is fulfilled for I will grant unto him no other gift. BC 4, March [1–31], 1829; D&C 5.

April 6, 1830  
Seer, translator, prophet, apostle, elder 1 [1] Behold, there shall be a record kept among you; and in it thou shalt be called a seer, a translator, a prophet, an apostle of Jesus Christ, an elder of the church through the will of God the Father, and the grace of your Lord Jesus Christ, D&C 21

Church founder 2 [2] Being inspired of the Holy Ghost to lay the foundation thereof, and to build it up unto the most holy faith. …
As if from my own mouth 5 [5] For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in all patience and faith. …
Oliver to ordain Joseph 10 [13] Wherefore it behooveth me that he should be ordained by you, Oliver Cowdery mine apostle;
Joseph first elder 11 [14] This being an ordinance unto you, that you are an elder under his hand, he being the first unto you, that you might be an elder unto this church of Christ, bearing my name—
First preacher to church, Gentiles, and Jews 12 [15] And the first preacher of this church unto the church, and before the world, yea, before the Gentiles; [16] yea, and thus saith the Lord God, lo, lo! to the Jews also. Amen.

September [20–26], 1830  
Receives commandments and revelations like Moses 2 But behold, verily, verily I say unto you, no one shall be appointed to receive commandments and revelations in this church, excepting my servant Joseph, for he receiveth them even as Moses: … BC 30, September [20–26], 1830; ¶ D&C 28:2, 6–7.

September 26, 1830
Appointed to receive revelations by conference [Joseph is] appointed by the voice of the Conference to receive and write Revelations & Commandments for this Church. Minutes of September 26, 1830

February [9–23], 1831
Only Joseph gets revelations, if he abides in me 3 [3] And this ye shall know assuredly—that there is none other appointed unto you to receive commandments and revelations until he be taken, if he abide in me. D&C 43
Only Joseph appoints successor 4 [4] But verily, verily, I say unto you, that none else shall be appointed unto this gift except it be through him; for if it be taken from him he shall not have power except to appoint another in his stead. appoint another: See September [5–26], 1830 item above.
Accept no others 5 [5] And this shall be a law unto you, that ye receive not the teachings of any that shall come before you as revelations or commandments;
