Minutes of August 5, 1837  
A general meeting votes to proceed with construction of a house of the Lord "as we have means." Edward Partridge treasurer; Jacob Whitmer, Elisha Groves, and George M. Hinkle committee until David Whitmer goes to and returns from Kirtland. Committee to have no store. Members are free to compete.

House of the Lord   Authorities present vote to construct "a house unto the name of the Lord … moderately … as we have means."  
Construction committee   Vote for Edward Partridge treasurer with Isaac Morley secretary; and Jacob Whitmer, Elisha Groves, and George M. Hinkle committee until David Whitmer goes to and returns from Kirtland.

[Vote:] that the building Committee of the house of the Lord have no store connected with the building the house But that every firm or individual that embarks in that business—have, own and claim such property as their own private individual property and stewardship.
