and washed our bodies with pure water before the Lord, preparatory to the anointing with the holy oil. where we attended to the ordinance of washing our bodies in pure water, where we attended to the ordinance of washing our bodies in pure water.
After the we were washed, our bodies were perfumed with a sweet smelling oderous* wash. we also perfumed our bodies and our heads, in the name of the Lord We also perfumed our bodies and our heads, in the name of the Lord
At evening the presidents of the Church, with the two bishops and their counsellors, and elder Warren Parrish, met in the presidents’ room, at early candlelight, I meet with the presidency, At early candlelight I met with the presidency,
at the west school room of the chapel to attend to the ordinance of anointing our heads with holy oil— at the west school room of the Chapel <Temple> to attend to the ordinance of anointing our heads with holy oil:
the high councils of Kirtland and Zion in their rooms. Also the councils of Zion Kirtland and Zion, meet in the two adjoining rooms., [sic] Also the councils of Kirtland and Zion met in the two adjoining rooms,
who waited in prayer while we attended to the ordinance,— who waited in prayer while we attended to the ordinance.
I took the oil in my <left> right hand, father Smith being Seated before me and the remainder of the presidency encircled him round about.— ¶ I took the oil in my left hand. Father Smith being seated before me. and the remainder of the presidency encircled him round about.
we then Streched our right hands towards heaven and blessed the oil and consecrated it in the name of Jesus christ— ¶ We then stretched our right hands towards heaven and blessed the oil and consecrated it in the name of Jesus christ.
we then laid our hands on, our aged fath[er] Smith. and invoked the blessings of heaven,—I then annointed his head with the consecrated oil. and sealed many blessings upon his <him,> head, the presidency then in turn laid their hands upon his head, beginning at the eldest, untill they all had laid their hands on him, and pronounced such blessings upon his head as the Lord put into their hearts—all blessing him to be our patriarch, <to> annoint our [136] heads. and attend to all duties that pertain to that office.— ¶ We then laid our hands on our aged Father Smith. and invoked the blessings of heaven. I then anointed his head with the consecrated oil. and sealed many blessings upon him; The Presidency then in turn laid his [sic, their] hands upon his head. beginning at the eldest until they all had laid their hands upon him. and pronounced such blessings upon his head as the Lord put into their hearts. all blessing him to be our Patriarch to anoint our heads and attend to all duties that pertain to that office.
I then took the Seat, and father annoint my head, and Sealed upon me. the blessings of Moses, to lead Israel in the latter days, even as moses led in days of old,—also the blessings of Abraham Isaac and Jacob,— ¶ The presidency then took the seat in their turn, according to their age. beginning at the eldest. and received their anointing and blessing under the hand of father Smith: and in my turn my father anointed my head, and sealed upon me the blessings of Moses. to lead Israel in the latter Days. even as Moses led in days of old: Also the blessings of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
all of the presidency laid their hands on me and pronounced upon my head many prophesies, and blessings, many of which I shall not notice at this time, but as Paul Said, So Say I, let us come to vissions and revelations,— ¶ All of the Presidency laid th[e]ir hands on me. and pronounced upon my head many prophecies. and blessings. many of which I shall not notice at this time. But as Paul Said, So say I. let us come to visions and revelations.
[D&C 137] The heavens were opened upon us. and I beheld the celestial kingdom of God, and the glory thereof, whether in the body or out I cannot tell.
Those named in the first room were annointed with the same kind of oil and in the man?? that were Moses and Aaron, and those who stood before the Lord in ancient days, and those in the other room with annointing* oil prepared for them. The glorious scene is too great to be described in this book, therefore, I only say, that the heavens were opened to many, and great and marvelous things were shown. I saw the transcendant beauty of the gate that enters, I saw the transcendent beauty of the gate,
