That the Destroyer
May Pass |
W. W. Phelps letter August 24, 1834: Bill to annex
land between Liberty and the Missouri river to the state failed. Wyandots
selected land in the west, Pottowottomies passed through Liberty en route
to join the Kickapoos. Pottowottomie prophet preached before Zion's Camp
arrived in June. In July, John Corrill, Simeon Carter, and the Pratt brothers
visited the Saints throughout western Missouri, teaching them "how
to escape the indignation of our enemies and to keep in favor with those
who feel well disposed towards us. And live as disciples in all lowliness
of heart &c." Draught,

Finish selection of first elders. Must receive endowment
in Kirtland before Zion can be redeemed. Send them to gain sympathy, petition
signatures. Gather churches. Redeem Zion on September 11, 1836. Left consecrated
horn in Illinois. William E. McLellin very humble now. Cholera raging.
